Jeff Wootton wins national award for customer-centric approach to business
Elders’ Jeff Wootton has won this month’s One Elders sales award for his exceptional customer-centric approach to business and ability to provide clients with a holistic solution to suit their needs.
Working as senior agri-finance manager out of the Bunbury branch, Mr Wootton says that one of the greatest advantages of working for Elders is having the ability to offer his clients a range of agricultural services – from livestock, to real estate, fertilizer and chemicals or equipment finance.
With this attitude in mind, Mr Wootton tries to fully understand each of his customers’ businesses to better realise what they need and how he and the branch team can assist with this.
“I think that there are a couple of elements to good client service – having a solid knowledge of farming, speaking to your clients about their wants, and knowing how to get them what they need,” says Mr Wootton.
“I always try to have a wider discussion with clients around what we can help them with for their enterprise, not just in terms of financing, but across the board,” he says.
“This often leads to an opportunity to introduce them to someone in the branch who can help in another area, saving them the need to go elsewhere and allowing their affairs to be managed in one place.”
Jeff says that having a close team in-branch who communicate well with one another helps to support this way of business.
“It’s always a priority of mine to have a quick chat with people across different departments – to stay up to date on what’s happening in the industry and across any chances to help their clients,” he says.
“We have a close group here that we all feel comfortable referring to one another, and that’s important. We have confidence that our client will have a good experience because we’ve taken the time to build respect and appreciation for each other,” he says.
“Communication is key in this process. You need to keep your eyes and ears open in this business and work as a team to achieve the best result at the end of the day.”
Western zone manager, James Cornish, says that Jeff’s attitude towards customer service is one of the reasons he is a high achiever in the area and sees significant results.
“The initial reason that Jeff was nominated for this award comes directly from a client story where he was able to assist them with lending for a property purchase, but then increase this to cover sheep and fertiliser,” says Mr. Cornish.
“We ended up being able to share our expertise across a number of products and deliver a great result to a satisfied client,” he says.
“The Bunbury team consistently demonstrate an ability to work together to deliver on promises and help wherever they can. Jeff is a valuable member of the branch and a great asset to the farming community in the Bunbury area.”
In recognition of his award within the business, Mr Wootton will be invited to attend the annual One Elders awards night in December with the opportunity to win the overall sales performance award for 2017.
