Hayden Lanyon’s reputation excels again, winning annual performance award

Following the success of running the largest stud stock dispersal sale in history early this year, Haydon Lanyon, Brand Manager of Elders Mortlake, has been commended with the annual Sales Performance Award for 2017.

The Coolana Angus and Simmental dispersal sale required extensive planning and coordination months before the event, and resulted in the sale of 1,233 lots on behalf of a client who was making major changes in their succession process.

Mr Lanyon was approached to achieve this outcome by the Gubbins’ family whose relationship with Elders ranges back decades. He says it was the help of the team that enabled such a great result.

“This sale was a combined effort which couldn’t have been conducted without the help of Ross Milne, and the forty other Elders staff members who supported me over the four days of selling,” he said.

“I strongly believe no other company could have conducted a sale of this magnitude and achieved the result that we did,” he said.

“I feel very fortunate to be involved in a great program like Coolana, and want to acknowledge and thank the Gubbins’ family for the opportunity.”

True to form, due to his commitment to a client and strong work ethic, Mr Lanyon was unable to attend the One Elders Awards Night, as he was preparing for a large sale in his district the following day.

Ballarat Area Manager Sean Simpson, accepted the award on his behalf, saying Hayden’s prioritisation of his client’s success above his own is what made him such a valuable team player.

“I could not be prouder to accept this on Hayden’s behalf. I’ve been with Elders for many years now, and the sale that Hayden conducted was the most satisfying I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of,” said Mr Simpson.

South Zone General Manager Malcolm Hunt, says that Hayden has transformed the Mortlake business, using an inclusive management style that allows everyone to fulfil their role for the ultimate success of the operation.

“I’m sure his clients and colleagues will agree when I say that Hayden’s professional and transparent way of doing business has given him a reputation as a man of his word, and a trusted partner to deliver on promises,” says Mr Hunt.

“He is an industry leader with a varied skill set, and we are very fortunate to have him in our southern business.”
