COVID-19 Update - Elders Rural Services

COVID-19 Update

Never before has it been more important that Australia’s food supply chain remains fully functioning and uninterrupted.

To this end, we are pleased to confirm that as an essential service provider to the agricultural sector, Elders is not subject to any Government mandated shutdowns or border crossing restrictions. We remain open for business and here to support you with all of your on-farm needs, albeit with a few tweaks to the way we operate.

Don’t be surprised if your local branch looks a little different next time you stop by

While we remain open, we are adapting our client service to ensure the safety of our people, clients and the communities we operate in.

  • Keep an eye out for branch signage indicating changes to how we are serving clients. We have new service windows and other alternative arrangements in place to ensure physical distancing of 1.5m is always maintained.
  • We recommend that you call your local branch in advance to discuss your requirements and prepare farm supplies orders for contactless pickup or delivery to you. Although we may have fewer staff present in branch, our full team is still available to assist by phone or email.
  • If you, or someone in your family, are in a high-risk category and have been advised by Government to self-isolate, we particularly encourage you to have a conversation with your local branch about how we can assist you with minimal contact.

Sale and auction events

In accordance with the guidance from Australian Livestock Producers Association (ALPA) and Agriculture Minister Hon. David Littleproud, we are continuing to provide livestock saleyard and wool auction services. New safety protocols apply, including limiting attendance to essential participants only, registering attendees and practicing physical distancing. Please contact your local agent for more information.

As you may have read, physical open real estate open inspections and live auctions are no longer permitted, including for farmland and rural properties. We are enforcing all precautions and no longer sharing vehicles with buyers or vendors when traveling to viewings. However, there are a range of alternatives to consider such as virtual inspections, private inspections by appointment, and private sale options. Your local Elders real estate agent can provide further information.

In light of the new restrictions on real estate auctions, we have also made the decision to suspend all clearing sales. Again, please talk to your local branch about alternatives, including Auctions Plus or private sales.

Mental Health

These are extraordinary times for all Australians. While agriculture remains a resilient industry and we feel confident in its ability to prosper in times of challenge, it’s important for us to make sure that mental health remains front of mind for our own people, our clients and our communities. If you need to speak to someone about how you are feeling, please don’t hesitate to contact our partner Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636) or visit their website for more information on how to look after your mental health during this time.

In the interest of all rural communities, we urge you to take the recommended measures to protect yourself and those around you from the spread of the coronavirus. We thank you for your cooperation and patience.
