Industry engagement and exceptional performance lead to award for Griffith’s Heath McWhirter

Elders Griffith’s Heath McWhirter has been awarded with the company’s monthly One Elders sales award for his outstanding service to clients and strong leadership towards innovative practices in technical services.

Operating within a team of five, Heath covers the Murrumbidgee cotton growing area, working closely with other southern zone teams to ensure that customer service is maintained across the district.

Cameron Townsend, Elders Griffith branch manager, says that Mr McWhirter is an industry frontrunner well deserving of recognition.

“Heath is very involved not just in his role within Elders but amongst the wider industry,” says Mr Townsend.

“He is at the forefront of new practices and has been nominated for several industry awards reflecting this.

“His ongoing dedication to continually learning more ensures that he improves outcomes for his clients and always keeps up with best industry practice.”

An example of Mr McWhirter’s industry engagement is his work with cotton innovation company, OneCrop.

OneCrop is a thin plastic film which works by trapping heat from sunlight, raising soil temperatures significantly and improving establishment before breaking down prior to harvesting cotton.

In collaboration with OneCrop and other industry bodies, Mr McWhirter played a part in trailing the innovation and using it to improve yield with clients.

Mr Townsend says that Heath’s engagement with OneCrop, as well as other new innovations in development stages, is a perfect example of his leadership skills and ability to see the value of investing in mid to long-term research and development projects to add value to clients for years to come.

“Heath’s involvement with the OneCrop product is just one example of how he looks to the future to add as much value to clients as possible,” says Mr Townsend.

“Innovation is a major focus within our technical services business and Heath’s work in the field has provided invaluable knowledge. He continues to grow in expertise and is an asset to his team and the southern zone.”

Mr McWhirter will be invited to attend the annual One Elders awards night in December with the opportunity to win the overall sales performance award for 2017.
