COVID-19: Sales and Social Distancing
We, like many of you, are watching the COVID-19 situation closely and responding accordingly.
Our priority is keeping our employees, clients and those in the communities we work in safe. There have been some minor implications to our operations, outlined below.
Social distancing at sales
To meet our priority of protecting our staff and their families, as well as clients and the communities in which we work, we are introducing some new safety protocols at our sale events.
Livestock Saleyards
Elders fully supports the Australian Livestock & Property Agents Association’s (ALPAs) new recommendations that physical livestock sales should only proceed on the condition that:
- Only essential participants to attend.
- Visitors be required to sign a declaration prior to entering the saleyards entering their name, address and phone number.
- Prior to the commencement of the sale the Auctioneer advises all attendees to maintain at least a 1.5 metre distance from others, that there be no handshaking and that proper hygienic practices be adopted.
These steps will both limit the potential transmissibility of the disease as well as provide traceability of attendees in the unlikely circumstance that there is a transmission of the virus at the event.
Wool Sales
Elders supports AWEX and NASC’s recommendation that physical wool sales should proceed, but non-essential participants should be strongly encouraged not to attend.
Clearing Sales and Property Auctions
Tightened Government restrictions pertaining to gatherings of people mean that it is no longer practical, nor safe, for us to hold clearing sales and property auctions. We are working on a case-by-case basis with affected on this. If these new restrictions are of concern to you, please contact your local branch to discuss your options.

We will keep you informed of any changes to the above approach and encourage you contact your local Elders representative if you have any concerns.
