Elders Mortlake’s Hayden Lanyon recognised for pulling off record breaking sale

Not one to shy from a challenge, Elders Mortlake’s branch manager Hayden Lanyon has been recognised with the company’s sales performance award for conducting the largest Angus Stud dispersal sale in Australian history.

The Coolana Angus and Simmental dispersal sale required extensive planning and coordination months before the event, and resulted in the sale of 1,233 lots on behalf of a client making major changes in their succession process. Mr Lanyon was approached to achieve this outcome by the clients who have a relationship with Elders ranging back decades.

On receiving the award Mr Lanyon said he was extremely pleased to be recognised but that the work of the team around him was what helped it all come together.

“We have a small but hard working team here in Mortlake, as well as helpful hands from surrounding branches willing to chip in when they’re needed,” says Mr Lanyon.

“Ross Milne, Hamilton’s stud stock manager can’t be left unmentioned as he played a huge role in helping in the lead up and of course on the day to make the sale a success,” he says.

A sale of this size takes significant coordination and organisation months prior. Hayden ensured that specialist staff were engaged to perform certain roles and all logistics were arranged, taking responsibility for all stakeholders involved in the process whilst continuing to run the branch as normal.

Sales manager for the South, Todd Brown says that Hayden did the team proud by carrying out the sale in a truly professional manner, ensuring safety, efficiency, and communication and animal welfare standards were all upheld to a high degree.

“This sale is just one example of Hayden’s continuous dedication to his clients. He is already regarded as a man of his word in the area and his professionalism and customer-centric approach to business will ensure he continues to be valued with clients and colleagues,” says Mr Brown.

“Stepping up to the plate, being accountable and using teamwork to achieve the best result for clients, as in this instance, are some of the things we pride ourselves on at Elders and help to consolidate our reputation as industry leaders.”

Already looking ahead to the next task at hand, Mr Lanyon says that a good result for the vendor was the best reward for him.

“The entire event was a whirlwind – it was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ve been working with the vendors for a long time so I’m really stoked that we could deliver a great result.”

In recognition of his award within the business, Mr Lanyon will be invited to attend the annual One Elders awards night in December with the opportunity to win the overall sales performance award for 2017.
