Elders Yea January weaner sale bigger and glossier than last year
The Elders Yea 34th Annual Blue Ribbon Weaner Sale on January 8th will be 20 per cent bigger than last year’s and agents say the good season means the cattle are in “exceptional condition”.
Elders Yea agent Jamie Quinlan said the lead drafts of weaners will average weights of 440-450 kilograms while there would be “big numbers” of weaners in the 360-410kg range.
The 3900 autumn-drop 2020 yarding will surpass the 3300 at last year’s sale.
It will feature 2000 Angus steers, 600 Hereford and Euro-cross steers, 1000 Angus heifers and 300 Hereford and Euro-cross heifers.
Lily Pastoral, Yarck, will have an EU-accredited February/March drop of 220 Angus steers and 80 Angus heifers sired by Cluden Newry and Tamaroo bulls.
Box Hill Pastoral Company will offer its EU-accredited 140 Angus steers and 70 Angus heifers by Connamara sires.
Cremona Park, Molesworth, will sell 120 Angus steers and 80 Angus heifers out of Millah Murrah and Tamaroo bulls.
Mr Quinlan said he expected the sale to be strong and the well-bred and conditioned yarding would attract a spread of buyers.
“The cattle are known performing cattle out of this district and people can buy them with confidence knowing that they do perform,” he said.
To be held at the Yea Saleyards on January 8, the Elders Yea 34th Annual Blue Ribbon Weaner Sale will also be featured on Herd Online with videos and commentary, as well as on AuctionsPlus.
