Historic Flinders Ranges Station for sale
Beltana Station in the Flinders Ranges, steeped in history dating back to 1855 with strong ties to Robert Barr Smith and Sir Thomas Elder, is for sale through Elders Real Estate.
Nestled in the iconic and picturesque Flinders Ranges, Beltana Station is situated on the sealed Outback Highway, 506km north of Adelaide.
Beltana Station’s rich history includes expeditions made by Ernest Giles, as well as the importation of camels by Sir Thomas Elder into South Australia which enabled remote areas of Australia to be explored along with transport that assisted with the overland telegraph line. In 1869 Sir Thomas Elder and Samuel Stuckey formed a transport company, operating between Port Augusta and his most remote northern station, Lake Hope, with thirty donkeys and one hundred camels.
The property operates today as a fully working sheep and cattle station, which currently offers a variety of accommodation, a café and restaurant.
Stretching across 1,541km and 380,789 acres (154,100ha), the Ragless family are offering for sale a productive gem with well-developed water points, extensive plant and equipment, a quality Angus cattle herd of 750 and a Dorper sheep flock of 6000, with a significant homestead and accommodation.
The Ragless family are respectful and proud to be part of the history of Beltana Station – the homestead, cottage, shearing shed and men’s quarters, all dating back to the 1860’s are proof of their care, commitment and investment in Beltana Station.
Elders’ rural real estate manager, Philip Keen says the property is an exceptional opportunity for buyers who have serious interest in investing in a diverse, well improved pastoral enterprise.
“Beltana Station is a rare offering to the public market, we are very proud of our links to the property through Sir Thomas Elder. It contains a good mixture of land types, from range country to undulating bush country, through to soft sand-hill cattle country. We are expecting significant interest in this property.”
Beltana Station is offered for sale by public auction, Wednesday 18 October 2017 at 1.30pm, Mercure Grosvenor, 125 North Terrace, Adelaide.
