Kerrilie Murchison – supporting our Cummins livestock team

Behind every livestock agent, there is a sales support officer (SSO) working behind the scenes to ensure sales are processed seamlessly, clients are paid on time and that every ‘i’ is dotted and ‘t’ is crossed when it comes to livestock contracts.

One such SSO, Kerrilie Murchison, is based at Cummins in South Australia. She has worked in this position now for more than 10 years, and says that every day is different.

Kerrilie has a passion for working in the livestock sector and says the variety of work allows her to stretch her skills, meet new people, and form long lasting relationships within the industry.

“A career in agriculture might just be one of the best choices you make!” says Kerrilie.

“I really believe agriculture to be an incredibly dynamic and fast-growing industry filled with the most passionate and caring people you’ll meet.”

During her time in the role, she has worked across two main locations, Murray Bridge, and the Eyre Peninsula (EP). For the last 7 years the EP branches have conducted the iconic Circuit Sale which stretches over 100km on the West Coast in one day, selling as many as 20,000 sheep in recent years and providing a challenge for SSOs like Kerrilie.

“These events have presented an incredible opportunity to represent the pink shirt alongside fellow staff from all over the state, and assist in coordinating logistics for clients, staff and livestock throughout the sale process.

There’s plenty of comradery amongst us as a livestock team and the other staff that help during the events, and we have a great deal of fun along the way!”

Kerrilie adds that wearing the pink shirt is something she is very proud of.

“The Elders family is like nothing else! There is always someone willing & able to help, pitch in, and encourage you to keep your chin up.”
