Local agronomist appointed senior position

Local Kojonup agronomist Courtney Piesse has recently been appointed to the position of Senior Agronomist where he will provide growers with technical expertise to help them get the most out of their operations.

Courtney has been with Elders for five years, upon graduating from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Science, Agriculture and a Bachelor of Commerce, and says he is enjoying the new role immensely.

“Taking on the role of Senior Agronomist allows me to continue to build on existing relationships with suppliers and growers, while ensuring our team has the ability to provide clients with a high level of service,” Mr Piesse said.

“The role also provides me with an opportunity to act as a mentor for new graduates and the wider agronomy team in the Great Southern region, helping them to develop their agronomic knowledge and skill base,” he said.

Courtney joins Elders national network of senior agronomists that benefit from sharing insights and collaborating on challenges to support growers across the wheat belt.

In acknowledging the climatic variability in the Great Southern region, Mr Piesse said that growers in the district are facing some challenges but also opportunities.

“In this current agricultural climate, many growers are facing the challenge of maintaining sustainability and increasing yields,” Mr Piesse said.

“However, our experienced team of agronomists are equipped with the knowledge to help clients overcome these challenges and consistently achieve results,” he said.

Elders continues to invest in its agronomic offering across the country through staff appointments and technology demonstration sites in key broadacre areas.

Courtney is based out of Elders Kojonup and can be contacted on 0429 377 608.
