National win for Lyn to recognise operational excellence

Lyn Allen, Sales Support Officer for Real Estate in Elders’ Towns Shearing business in Launceston has been recognised this month with a One Elders Operational Performance award for her diligence and hard work in a time of transition for the team.

Elders merged with the Launceston Towns Shearing business in April 2016, bringing with it twenty years of history and experience into the Elders network. This transition combined the local market knowledge of the Towns Shearing team with the national reach and brand recognition of Elders.

With this merge came a number of challenges, including introducing the team to the Elders systems, processes, and way of conducting business. Ms Allen played a large role in ensuring that this transition was conducted seamlessly, with minimal impact to current clients and everyday operations.

Ms Allen says that the change within branch required her to step up to a number of new tasks and challenges to minimise disruption and set the team up for success.

“The merge with Towns Shearing has definitely made my workload heavier but has also been a great opportunity to challenge myself and learn new skills,” says Ms Allen.

“I’ve been with Elders for seventeen years now so I would say I have a comprehensive knowledge of the business and its applications which have helped in both training the new team and problem solving their issues in the initial stages of operation,” she says.

“It’s been stressful at times but I do like the challenge and it’s been rewarding seeing everyone else enjoying the change that our merge has brought to the team and the business.”

Elders Real Estate franchise manager, Darren Barlow, says Lyn has been an invaluable resource for the team, whose knowledge and optimistic attitude helped to drive the success of the transition.

“Lyn has a strong customer focus and unique ability to build relationships with stake holders, existing staff and customers. She continually meets the needs of not only Elders and staff, but also our clients,” says Mr Barlow.

“She is certainly not frightened of change – often embracing it and making suggestions to improve efficiencies and procedures within the business. This has been a huge asset in helping to move the business towards the goals we have set within the Tasmanian market,” he says.

Lyn’s team focus, customer-centric approach to business and willingness to be accountable for implementing change are good examples of the attributes the Elders Real Estate business pride themselves on, and will help to achieve the growth planned for the business across the company.

Ms Allen will be invited to attend the annual One Elders awards night in December with the opportunity to win the overall operational performance award for 2017.
