Stud Stock update – April 2022

The 2022 Wagyu Edge Conference was held in Melbourne late April, attracting local and international attendees.

The Elite Wagyu Sale formed part of the conference, setting records for the price paid for Wagyu cattle. More than 400 bidders registered for the event, a combination of in-person and online.
The sale posted the strongest ever result for the beef seedstock industry.

Elders had several offerings across the night including:

  • 8/8 Wagyu Heifers sold to a top of $97,500 (Lot 15 Gateway G113 S0010) averaging $36,063.
  • 3/3 Wagyu Bulls sold for an Australian Wagyu bull record of $240,000 (Lot 19 Sahara Park Yasufuku R153) purchased by Bar H Grazing.
  • Lot 17A Blackmore Kinyasu Q619 purchased by Mayura Station and Hewitt Pastoral Enterprises for $220,000 was also an Australian record for a Wagyu bull. The three bulls averaged $163,333.
  • Eight Embryo Packages sold to a top of $3,750 (Lot 41 Irongate Wagyu). Averaging $2,214 per embryo.
  • The whole Semen Tank offered by Oasis Collection Centre sold for $75,000.
