Variety Description
Maltstar is an export Malt profile barley with long maturity, similar to Commander. Maltstar is a high yielding barley. In long term NVT Maltstar shows similar performance to GrangeR in WA Ag zones 5 and the same performance as Bass in Ag Zone 3. Maltstar main target Ag zones are 1, 3 and 6 with yields above Flinders. Maltstar has excellent hectolitre weight, low screenings and a bright grain colour. Maltstar has resistance to Powdery Mildew through the mlo11 gene and is resistant to Leaf Rust with Rph3 and Rph Dash genes.
