Five years and counting: Elders celebrates McGrath Foundation friendship by donating $1,000 every day in July
This July, Elders is celebrating five years of supporting the McGrath Foundation with an additional $31,000, donating $1,000 every day in July to the Foundation to mark the event, and further funding from events run by branches and staff to add to the donation.
Since 2007, Elders and staff have donated more than $300,000 to the McGrath Foundation which has helped fund the McGrath Elders Breast Care Nurse based at the Royal Flying Doctor Service base in Broken Hill, where the position literally takes to the skies to support Australian families experiencing breast cancer in areas as far reaching as Far West New South Wales, South West Queensland and North East South Australia.
Elders CEO, Malcolm Jackman said that the generosity of Elders staff and clients over the past five years was outstanding.
“Elders and the McGrath Foundation share the same passion for rural and regional Australia and we are proud to be celebrating five years support for this worthy cause,” he said.
Elders strives to support and give back to the communities in which we operate, with the aim of the McGrath Foundation being to ensure that every Australian family experiencing breast cancer has access to the support of a breast care nurse. To date, the McGrath Foundation has a network of 75 McGrath Breast Care Nurses working nationally who have helped support more than 12,000 Australian families through a breast cancer experience.
Foundation Ambassador and Director, Tracy Bevan, says the McGrath Foundation is proud of the support of Elders and its branches nationally.
“One of our longest Corporate Friendships, Elders staff nationally have been tremendous in showing their support for the Foundation, hosting community events or running fundraising initiatives for us year on year.
“Their fantastic support has helped us fund our first ‘flying’ McGrath Elders Breast Care Nurse position to ensure we can reach even more families. We’re proud of our friendship and we’re looking forward to seeing it grow and flourish in the years to come,” said Tracy.
