Gear up for growth with Elders and Rural Bank

The End of Financial Year is an opportune time to assess financial results and plan for the year ahead.

Through its relationship with Rural Bank, Elders offers banking solutions for your farm business to facilitate expansion, property improvement, and cash flow management.

Rural Bank offers its clients access to dedicated Agribusiness Relationship Managers, located throughout the Elders network of branches.

Hugh Munchenberg is an Agribusiness Relationship Manager based in Burra, South Australia. Hugh travels between Morgan, Kapunda, Hallett, Yacka, and Balaklava.

Building strong relationships to support farmers in accomplishing their business goals is what Hugh most enjoys about his role.

“I love being able to work with and help local farmers and their families. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to meet someone new and get an understanding of the business, family and how it all functions,” says Hugh.

Working closely alongside the Elders network, Rural Bank Agribusiness Relationship Managers develop an appreciation for farmers’ goals and challenges.

Hugh describes Elders as a “…great one-stop-shop and the people that I work with are very friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. That is what Elders is known for and how they have been able to establish their reputation as the iconic pink shirt.”

Along with the Elders network, Hugh enjoys watching rural Australia thrive. With exceptional sales results continuing to be achieved by most commodities across the country, Hugh encourages growers to ensure they are maximising the financial benefits of these returns and preparing for future opportunities.

The challenges and variables of farming is what attracted Hugh to the industry and his role as an Agribusiness Relationship Manager. Hugh says that he “…absolutely love[s] a challenge and I’m eager to work with clients to achieve great outcomes for them and their business. I enjoy helping out and learning more about anything to do with agriculture.”

The region Hugh services is typically mixed farming with reliable broadacre conditions.

Hugh describes it as “…a bit on and off so far, but we’ve just had rain and there’s still talk of this year being above average. Most growers have wrapped up seeding now.”

The many factors of farming and their impact on financial outcomes are well understood by Hugh and always front of mind when facilitating clients’ financial needs.

“Appreciating agriculture and the client’s business is core to our service,” says Hugh. “Recently I was working with a client to plan for the year ahead. We were discussing the downgraded rain forecast and he shared a gem with me; you don’t have to be crazy to be a farmer, but it sure does help!”
